Surge arrester is a comprehensive arrester, which integrates the functions of arrester and surge protector in one device, and is used to protect electrical systems from lightning and various overvoltages. When the system is exposed to lightning overvoltage, the arrester part will work first to suppress the overvoltage as much as possible and lead it to the ground; if the arrester fails to completely consume the overvoltage, the part of the overvoltage exceeding the system protection level will be conducted to the surge protector. The surge protector releases the overvoltage to the ground after dropping the overvoltage to a safe range through its own protection characteristics, so as to protect the system from damage.
